Wot I did on me summer holidays like - week 2

Saturday was my birthday. I found it a bit overwelming. I saw my parents on my actual birthday for the first time in as long as I can remember. They'd travelled up the night before and were relieving me of my kiddiewinks on Saturday lunchtime for a WEEK! I was really spoiled rotten present wise, my mammy - on her own mind - had scoured wool shops and secured me about 4 jumpers worth of wool, all beautifully presented in baskets wrapped in cellophane and my dad had chosen me a vintage knitting book and that's just the tip of the iceberg really. My A man outdid himself and seems to be on a mission to make the whole fooking week a birthday celebration. And that's not going into the spoiling I got from the rest of my friends and family. It was just really terrific. We all had lunch at the lovely Rattler with my bestie mate with boyfriend and baby in tow and then all of a sudden it was just me and A in a VERY quiet house. Not for long like as we had pub plans doncha know!  We we...

Summer Holidays Week One - Days Out

This week I'm am completely loving days out with the kiddiewinkles and the A Man. Day one was a trip to Alnwick Castle. Tala (the littlest) is madly in love with Harry Potter lately so this was a massive deal for her. There was lots of Potter activities and Hagrid and Harry were in attendance doing a magic show which was great and the kids did a Broomstick Training session which was comedy genius. There was picnic and ice cream and magic wands and dragons, it was a lovely day. Day two, a vist to Cragside. I'm sure I've been to this National Trust place before as a child but I have no memory of it at all and to be honest I fell a little in love. Tons to do for the kids, play parks and trim trails galore, as well as extensive gardens and hidden treasures like Douglas the Green Man and the house, oh the house itself was so utterly beautiful I did a serious amount of swooning and ahhing. Day three, yesterday. We went to see a piece of Alice's artw...

Random Waffling

It's been an age since I posted. I have had a few SFX blogs go up as well as a few podcasts since the last time I blogged and the links shall be in the usual places since I can't be bothered to look them up. I am going to attempt to blog more often but this means there will be more random guffins, probably some knitting as well as comicsy/geeky stuff. I make no apologies about this at all. My youngest daughter had the "dire rear" as Nanny Ogg would call it really quite nastily at the weekend - so we were stuck in all day Saturday. She wanted to watch She-ra whilst lying on her bed - which I thought was fair enough, so I signed up for a month's free trial of Netflix and watched a few episodes of The Killing which I am enjoying very much - although it is occasionally hard viewing.  Me and the other half watched a couple of films later on, we watched Manhattan Murder Mystery which is a Woody Allen movie, I really enjoyed this film non the least because I have a) a ...

Reviews and Launch of Into the Woods

Here you can see our beautiful table all set up before the doors opened at Cardiff Comic Expo this weekend. The convention was great and I have to say we sold very well, which was a relief! Several of our artists - Simon Wyatt, StuArt Tipples and Conor Boyle sketched at various points over the weekend and it was great having Stu's original art (and Simons for awhile too) out on the table which generated a lot of interest too. From a newbie point of view this was a great convention to launch at, Mike Allwood made it as easy and smooth as could be and having Mr Conman on hand to help with the table, sign books in the tiniest writing you have ever seen and generally calm me down was brilliant.  Also having wonderful table neighbours in the form of Futurequake Press LEGEND Dave Evans and Bearded Skull comics guys on the other side made the slow times pass far more quickly. We have now had two reviews go up on that there internet, you can find one here from the fabulous ...
